Keeping up with the Ferrari WAGs

Ferrari’s icon status:

“Ask a child to draw a car and he will certainly draw it red.” That quote from Enzo Ferrari has always resonated with me, especially after former F1 driver Sebastian Vettel’s claim that “everyone is a Ferrari fan” even if they “say they aren’t”. I hate to admit it, but he’s right. I’ve never outwardly called myself a Ferrari fan- choosing to support RedBull and Williams instead- but something Ferrari’s two wins this year have made me jump out of my seat with joy.

Taking that into account, it would be impossible to deny that Ferrari is the most iconic team on the grid. Even their pit box and garage stands out with hot red piercing through the dull grey of the hospitality buildings. The Italian team dominated the 1990s and 2000s, Schumacher’s inescapable legacy eventually giving into resentment for some fans. As the team’s dominance has faded over the past couple decades, the star power of its current driver line-up has done anything but. With Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc well known to most outside the Formula One sphere, the pair has taken social media by storm, and their partners are absolutely no exception to this.

Charles and Alexandra Leclerc:

It would feel wrong to begin a piece on Ferrari with anyone but my favourite Formula One WAG, Alexandra Leclerc. The woman deserves an entire piece dedicated to her with the way her style and grace has influenced masses of young women on social media, myself included. Her paddock style is studded with stunning matching sets and sleek buns with not a single hair out of place. She regularly incorporates local fashion into her outfits, lately styling a modern take on a traditional qipao for the Chinese Grand Prix.

To respect Alexandra’s wish to be recognised independently from her husband, it’s important we first discuss the incredible life she leads outside the paddock. Her degree in Art History comes from the distinguished Ecole du Louvre, with a special focus in 20th-century art (including my beloved Andy Warhol). She continues to use these skills to serve as an Art Coordinator at a gallery in Monaco, remaining dedicated to her passion for art.

Her influence extends well beyond the art world with her fashion turning the heads of millions of fans alongside dozens of fashion brands. Most recently, she made the cover of Elle Mexico, using the platform to highlight her charitable fund Corazones Unidos, committed to “turn her gratitude into action” and support children across Mexico with access to education.

How could it be a section on Alexandra Leclerc without talking about her beautiful dachshund Leo? The mini golden dog can be spotted at numerous Grand Prix across the calendar, often stealing the show and living a life of luxury even envied by Williams driver Alex Albon. The pair adopted Leo in April 2024 with Charles posting a video of the puppy on Instagram heartwarmingly captioned “Welcome home baby Leo”. The tiny dachshund has become a defining feature of the Leclercs’ relationship, even featuring a prominent role in their first wedding ceremony.

The pair legally tied the knot in February of this year in a beautiful intimate ceremony at home in Monaco. Villa La Vigie offered stunning panoramas of the Mediterranean, providing the perfect backdrop for their union of love. Light shimmered off the coastline onto Alexandra’s crystal-embroidered Paolo Sebastian gown, perfectly matched by Charles’ light and summery suit. Even their harshest critic would have to admit the pair looked unbelievably stunning together, breathtaking wedding pictures immediately captivating the fans.

With Ferrari rooted deeper in Charles Leclerc’s soul than perhaps anything else, the couple arrived in a 1957 Ferrari Testa Rossa, transforming a simple entrance into a scene from a movie. Later dressed in a mini suit and tie, Leo Leclerc immediately stole the show, nestled into Alexandra’s lap, bringing a touch of spontaneity to this day of elegance. The bride proudly did her makeup herself, keeping it simple and light, reminding fans of the pureness and intimacy of this first ceremony. While February marked the date of their legal marriage, the pair have since promised a second, larger gathering with extended family.

Within the small community of Formula One drivers, the newlyweds were met with nothing but absolute love and joy. Pierre Gasly offered his congratulations directly in the comments of the announcement post while many drivers later shared their love in interviews and press conferences. As it always has been, the wider sphere of fans has been somewhat less kind to the pair. A vocal minority among the thousands of fans offering their love have criticised their relationship, tearing Alexandra apart for getting married so young and claiming she has no life outside her husband.

Lewis Hamilton and Kim Kardashian:

Moving onto one of the newest WAGs on the grid, I still can’t quite believe I’m writing that Kim Kardashian is the second Ferrari WAG. Even though the two have been confirmed as dating for a couple months, the pairing of Formula One driver and Kardashian is still insane to me. Eleven years after his last relationship-- with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger- ended, Lewis was first linked to Kim in the early months of 2026.

Rumours began to circulate around the two on the very first day of the new year, setting us up for an eventful year with the pair. A New Year’s Eve party saw a less than rare interaction between the pair; Kate Hudson’s Colorado home becoming the backdrop to the beginning of their romantic adventures. A well-photographed trip to the Superbowl followed alongside a suspiciously similar trip to Arizona found on both the celebrity’s Instagrams.

Like most Formula One fans at this time, I was strictly in denial about their relationship through March and April, in disbelief that Lewis would open up to such a public relationship after a decade. The Ferrari driver made the decision to keep Nicole private during their relationship, refraining from joint red carpet appearances and conversations about her in interviews to protect their peace. The biggest change then comes in publicity and the willingness of Lewis to display his girlfriend on his usually highly professional social media.

Kim Kardashian needs absolutely no introduction so there’s little point in wasting my words to talk about a woman the press knows all too well. Despite this, her long awaited appearance at June’s Monaco Grand Prix displays her introduction into a new sphere entirely. Making her paddock debut on qualifying Saturday alongside sister Khloé Kardashian, it was made abundantly clear that Kim was never going to blend in with the other WAGs. Every ounce of focus not on the drivers was trained directly onto her, intimately detailing her presence in the Ferrari garage. Perhaps her presence was a good luck charm after all as Lewis pulled the car into a brilliant second place, thanking Kim for her support in a later press conference.

With her previous relationships including a tenuous marriage to Kayne West, Kim Kardashian is no stranger to bad press and gossip. This has continued in her entanglement with Lewis Hamilton as absurd rumours have already been spread that the Kardashian has somehow cursed championship rival Kimi Antonelli into failing.

Fans jokingly claimed that her looting of Antonelli’s post-race towel became the basis of a curse placed on the young Italian driver. Some have commented that bodily fluids are highly important in many spiritual rituals, especially in that of her great-grandfather’s culture. Antonelli’s Monaco win was fifth in a consecutive string of wins, followed sharply by an unfortunate DNF in Canada the next race over. The coincidence is humorous, but timed perfectly enough to make even the most scientifically minded person feel momentarily sceptical.

Neither Ferrari WAG has been a stranger to criticism in recent months, deserved or not, but the two couples bathed in red are still going strong. But perhaps that is the true power of Ferrari. Beyond the trophies, championships, and endless legacy, the team has always had an unmatched ability to draw people in, and this year is no exception. Whether it’s the quiet elegance of the Leclerc’s or Kim and Lewis’ headline-making romance, there is something undeniably captivating about both couples. As much as I hate to admit it as a RedBull fan, there is something magical about Ferrari that makes looking away almost impossible.
